Wolves Set for Final Regular Season Weekend

The Northern State men's basketball team looks to close-out the regular season on a high note this weekend as the Wolves welcome U-Mary and Minot State to Wachs Arena. Tip-off with Mary is set for 8 p.m. Friday while the Minot State game is at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Northern State is coming off a weekend sweep last week, defeating Wayne State 90-59 and Augustana 85-78. The Wolves snapped a four-game losing streak with the two wins. With Minnesota Duluth's two losses last weekend, NSU has clinched the fourth seed in the North Division and will host its first round game of the NSIC Tournament February 26.

About the Marauders
U-Mary is 14th in the league in scoring averaging 68.9 points per game. Defensively, Mary allows 75.2 points per which ranks seventh in the NSIC. The Marauders are sixth in the league in three-point percentage defense, allowing 34.7 percent from long range. Mary is eighth in the conference in rebounding margin at plus-0.8. The Marauders are led by Jevin Budde who is in his third year as the head man at U-Mary.

Mary is led by Marc Musungayi who is 20th in the league averaging 13.4 points per during conference play. He also ranks 13th in blocks (.95) and 17th in rebounding (5.6). Musungayi is 16th in the NSIC in minutes played per game with 30.95 minutes played while Jalen Jaspers is 17th playing 30.45 per. Jaspers also ranks 11th in field goal percentage shooting 53.3 percent from the floor.

About the Beavers
Minot State ranks 10th in the league in scoring averaging 74.9 points per game and is 13th in scoring defense allowing 79.8 per game. Minot ranks seventh in the NSIC in three-point percentage shooting 37.7 percent from deep and ranks eighth in three-point percentage defense allowing 37.5 percent from beyond the arc. The Beavers are eighth in the league in turnover margin at -.10. Minot State is led by second-year Head Coach Matt Murken.

EJ Williams leads the Beavers in scoring during league play as he ranks 10th averaging 16 points per game. Williams is also 14th in assists with three per game and fifth in steals averaging 1.75 a game. Chris East is eighth in the conference in rebounding averaging seven per game while Samuel Johnson is 13th with six boards a contest.

Northern Notes
Northern forward Seth Bachand ranks third in the league in field goal percentage at 61.9 percent he also ranks 20th in rebounding averaging 5.4 per game. Tydan Storrusten is seventh in the NSIC in assists averaging 3.7 per game and is 11th in free throw percentage at 84 percent from the line. Skye Warwick ranks fourth in the league in three-point shooting hitting 47.1 percent from beyond the arc and continues to lead the league with 2.85 three-pointers made per game. Trent Zomer ranks sixth in blocked shots per game with 1.4 while Bachand is ninth averaging 1.1 rejections.

Head Coach Paul Sather is 3-4 against U-Mary while at Northern. The Wolves defeated the Marauders 83-74 earlier this season back in December. Zomer led four Wolves in double figures with 16 points. Sather is 3-0 against Minot State while at NSU. The Wolves defeated the Beavers 88-84 earlier this season. Six Wolves scored in double figures in the win.

Friday night will be Parents and Senior Night for Northern. The Wolves will be honoring seniors Jared Hannigan and Trent Zomer prior to the game with May. Both Friday and Saturday is I Hate Winter Weekend.
