Wolves Notch Impressive Win at St. Cloud State

Mitch White poured in a career-high 24 points as the Northern State men's basketball team notched an impressive 91-77 win over St. Cloud State Saturday night on the road. The win improves the Wolves to 10-1 overall and 4-1 in the NSIC.

Skye Warwick added 14 points in the victory and went 4-of-6 from three-point range. Seth Bachand added 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. DJ Pollard and Darin Peterka added 11 and nine points, respectively in the game.

For the game, the Wolves shot 57.8 percent from the field which is a season-high,  and the third time this season they have shot 50 percent or better in a game. The Huskies (5-5, 2-3 NSIC) shot 41.7 percent from the floor. Northern also shot 45 percent (9-of-20) from three-point range while SCSU went 6-of-21 from deep (28.6 percent).

Northern once again had a solid second half, which was a key to the victory as the Wolves put up 55 points in the half. NSU was also able to put together maybe its best first half of the season as they took a 36-34 lead into the locker room at halftime. It was just the fourth time this season that Northern had a lead at the break.

Northern held a 32-26 edge in rebounding in the game and also had a huge26-8 advantage in bench points in the victory. The Huskies had a 32-26 edge in points in the paint.

The win gives Northern its fourth consecutive victory in league play and fifth-straight overall. Next up, Northern will face MSU Moorhead next Saturday on the road. The Dragons handed the Wolves their lone loss of the season in November in the NSIC opener, 75-55 in Aberdeen.
