Tanner Olson picked up three wins and Joe Gomez had a pair of victories to lead the Northern State wrestlers at the NDSU Bison Open Saturday in the Wolves' season opener.

Olson, at 165 pounds, picked up a pair of decisions on the day (4-3 and 7-2) and also had a fall in his second victory at the tournament. At 197 pounds, Gomez opened his day with an 11-2 major decision over Minot State's Taylor Barstad and in the consolation bracket, pinned teammate Quace Wright for his second win on the day.

Clayton Buchanan (133), Tyler Frost (141) and Sean Havlovic (157) all picked up one win at the open. Both Buchanan and Havlovic's came by way of fall. Buchanan pinned Northland's Logan Stiller while Havlovic bested Concordia-Moorhead's Alexi Bode.

David Murphy, C.J. Voegeli and Quace Wright also competed at the Bison Open for NSU.

Northern returns to action next Saturday as the Wolves will travel to their second tournament to begin the season. The Wolves will head to Mitchell for the Dakota Wesleyan Open.
