Northern Hosts Dakota State Tuesday

The Northern State men's basketball team will play its second-to-last non-conference game of the season and final tune-up before NSIC play begins this weekend on Tuesday night as Dakota State comes to town for an 8 p.m. contest.

The Wolves enter the game with a 4-0 record and are looking for their first 5-0 start since 2011-12. NSU has won back-to-back overtime thrillers with its latest 76-74 victory over Truman State Sunday. Northern is scoring 79.5 points per game this season and is allowing 74.8 points defensively per contest.

Northern is led by Seth Bachand's 14 points and nine rebounds per game. The nine boards per contest rank third in the NSIC. Bachand is shooting an incredible 65.5 percent (19-for-29) from the floor this season. The Wolves have three other players scoring in double figures in Darin Peterka (12 ppg), Skye Warwick (10.8 ppg) and Mitch White (10 ppg). Warwick is shooting a lights-out 11-of-18 (61 percent) from three-point range this season.

Dakota State is 2-5 on the season and has wins over Waldorf (Iowa) and Mount Marty. The Trojans will also play NSIC opponent Sioux Falls Monday night before traveling to face the Wolves. Tuesday's contest will be an exhibition game for DSU.

The Trojans are led by Bryant Allen who is averaging 18 points per game this season. Allen also leads the team averaging 3.3 assists per game. Miguel Sansavour and Derek Meger rank second and third, respectively on the team in scoring. Sansavour is averaging 11.7 points per and Meger is scoring 11 a contest. Sansavour's two blocks per game rank 14th nationally in the NAIA.
