Photo GalleryThe Northern State volleyball team lost a tough five-set match Friday night to Sioux Falls, dropping the Wolves' record to 12-5 overall and 5-4 in the NSIC. After Northern won the first two sets 25-23 and 25-14, USF (10-9, 4-5 NSIC) rallied to win the final three sets 25-21, 25-13 and 15-11.
Kelsey Chambers led the Wolves with 16 kills and had 11 digs to go along with a career-best six block assists in the loss. As a team, NSU recorded 13.5 total team blocks to the Cougars' two.
Mandy Kurosky added 11 kills and hit .314 while
Cari McGarvie chipped in with nine kills.
Tori Biach added seven kills and tied a career-high with seven total blocks.
Renee Hoffman recorded a career-best 25 digs from her libero position in the loss while
Annika van Oosbree added 18 digs.
Holly Vancura filled in admirably at setter and registered 45 assists to go along with 19 digs.
Northern hit .191 as a team for the match while USF hit .221. Both teams recorded six service aces while the Wolves had five serving errors and Sioux Falls recorded nine. Friday's loss was Northern's first at home this season.
NSU returns to action Saturday as seventh-ranked Southwest Minnesota State comes to Wachs Arena for a 3 p.m. match.
