Wolves Fall to No. 9 Southwest Minnesota

For the first time this season, the Northern State volleyball team faced a ranked opponent Friday night in ninth-rated Southwest Minnesota State. The Wolves dropped the match in three sets, losing 25-15, 25-21 and 25-15.

Northern has now dropped two consecutive matches after starting the season 9-0 and are 2-2 in NSIC play. Southwest improved to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in the league.

Macey Finizio led the Wolves attack Friday with nine kills. Finizio, along with Jussy Tuscherer also had the two service aces in the loss for NSU. Tuscherer added eight kills and tied a career-best with 10 digs.

Freshman Tori Biach chipped in with six kills and also had a solo and block assist against the Mustangs. Kelsey Chambers and Cari McGarvie added five kills each in the match. Drew Smith led the Wolves with 30 assists on the evening.

Northern will look to stop its two-game skid tomorrow afternoon as the Wolves will travel to face Sioux Falls in a 4 p.m. match.
