Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WAYNE, Neb. - The Wayne State Wildcats showcased why they are the NCAA Central Region's eighth-ranked team, using the big inning to their advantage in a Sunday doubleheader sweep of the Northern State Wolves.  WSC bucked a stiff wind to take 14-4 and 10-0 wins over the Wolves in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.

WSC scored three runs in three different innings in the opener and two runs in two others, holding off a late surge by the Wolves in the bottom of the seventh.  Northern State took advantage of a balk to get on the board in the fifth inning.

The Wolves then used a string of pinch hit successes to plate three runs in the bottom of the seventh.  Travis Sormaz and Jon Feist produced back-to-back RBI singles, while Mark Abrahamson chalked up a one-out sacrifice fly to push Sormaz home for the third run of the inning.

The rally ran out of innings and outs, however, leaving the Wolves with the loss.  Robbie Rocamora went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored for the Wolves, picking up two of NSU's eight hits in the game.

The NSU offense went quiet in Game 2, however.  Brent Lawrence and Maurice Rodriguez each went 2-for-4 from the plate, but the Wolves would get just one hit from the remainder of the line-up.

WSC chalked up three runs in the first and four in the fifth to plate eight of their ten runs in the game.

NSU is next slated to take on Winona State in another NSIC doubleheader on Wednesday, weather permitting.
