ABERDEEN, S.D. -
Northern State picked up pinfall wins at either end of the dual to cap a 27-12 victory over a U-Mary squad that was receiving votes in the latest Division II rankings Wednesday evening in the Wolves' final home dual of the season.

Sophomore Anthony Bruno earned a first-period fall over Jordan Eckholm to start the night, while senior heavyweight Matt Meuleners took a 13-1 lead over his opponent before recording the fall in 1:53.  In between, NSU picked up a win by forfeit at 141 pounds and decision victories at 149, 174 and 197 pounds.

Freshman Grant Steen picked up the win at 149 pounds, taking and early lead and riding it to a 10-6 decision.  Fellow freshman Anthony Navarro gave the crowd a show at 174 pounds, escaping with an 8-7 victory in a back-and-forth match that featured a flurry of late activity and changes of fortune for both wrestlers.  Navarro hung on to win his first dual meet match-up in front of the home crowd.

Senior Chad Gibson gave up his normal 184-pound spot to move up a weight class, claiming a 4-2 win over Kriss McCleary before Meuleners capped off the night.

NSU surrendered just four decisions on the night, including a tight 1-0 decision at 133 pounds, as sophomore Tyler Frost gave up only a single riding time point.

NSU will round out the regular season on Friday at eighth-ranked Minnesota State at 7 p.m.
