The Northern State volleyball team's season came to an end Thursday afternoon as the Wolves were swept by six-time defending National Champion Concordia-St. Paul in the first round of the NCAA Central Regional Tournament. Set scores went 25-18, 25-20 and 25-10.
Northern ends its season with a 22-8 record and just the second NCAA Tournament appearance in school history (2006).
All-region outside hitter
Kelsey Chambers led the Wolves with 12 kills in the loss, Chambers, along with
Sami Nygaard also led the Wolves with nine digs in the match.
Jussy Tuscherer added eight kills and a pair of block assists against the Golden Bears, while
Cari McGarvie added five kills.
Drew Smith had 28 assists in the match for NSU and also had seven digs and two block assists.
Renee Hoffman recorded the lone service ace for the Wolves.
The Wolves hit a season-low .093 as a team while Concordia hit .340. It was the first time this season that Northern failed to hit at least .100 as a team in a match. The Golden Bears also held an edge in total blocks at 9-5.
Concordia had three players with double-digit kills and also had a sideout percentage of 69 while the Wolves were at 45 percent.
