The Northern State men hit a season-high 11 three-pointers as a team and shot a season-best 58.3 percent from the floor as the Wolves won their fifth-straight game Monday evening as they defeated Mayville State 87-57 in Wachs Arena.
Northern led the game from start to finish and held a double digit lead for all but 3:42 in the contest. All 10 Wolves that played scored in the win as NSU was led by
Darin Peterka's career-high 15 points. Peterka was 5-for-7 from the floor and added four rebounds, four steals and three assists in the game.
Jared Hannigan added 13 points and four three-pointers while
Seth Bachand added 12 points and five rebounds and also went a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor.
Tydan Storrusten and
Skye Warwick each had 11 points and a game-high five assists in the contest. Northern assisted on 20 of its 28 made field goals.
The Wolves played stingy defense as well holding MSU to just 38 percent shooting from the floor and 35 percent from beyond the arc. Northern scored 29 points off of 18 Comet turnovers. The Wolves also held a nine point advantage in bench scoring (42-33) and an 8-2 edge in fast break points. NSU also recorded five blocks to Mayville's one in the win.
This ends Northern's non-conference slate as the Wolves begin NSIC action Saturday as they travel to face MSU Moorhead in a 6 p.m. contest.
