Wolves Eliminated From NSIC Tournament by Concordia

Top-seeded and No. 3 ranked Concordia-St. Paul eliminated the Northern State volleyball team from the US Bank/NSIC Volleyball Tournament Saturday afternoon at the Ganglehoff Center in St. Paul, Minn., as the Wolves were swept by scores of 25-18, 25-12 and 25-19.

The loss drops Northern to 22-7 on the season. It marks the second year in-a-row that the Wolves have bowed-out of the NSIC Tournament in the semifinals to Concordia.

Kelsey Chambers led the Wolves in the loss with 13 kills and a .440 attack percentage. As a team Northern hit just .149 while the Golden Bears hit an incredible .443 in the match. Macey Finizio added six kills and two aces for Northern.

Drew Smith led the Wolves with 29 assists and six digs from her setter position. Chambers and Renee Hoffman chipped in with five digs each in the loss.

Concordia also had a five block advantage in the match (7-2) while both teams compiled four service aces and three errors Saturday.

Now the Wolves must sit and await their fate Monday to see if they will be selected to the NCAA Central Regional Tournament. NSU currently sits in sixth in the region, the top eight teams move on to the tournament. The selection show can be seen on ncaa.com beginning at 6:30 p.m. Northern will also be hosting a watch party inside Wachs Arena up in the auxiliary gym team room during the NSU men's and women's basketball doubleheader Monday. Those attending the games are welcome to join the Wolves to watch.
