Wolves Soccer Ends Road Weekend with a Split

Duluth, Minn. - The Northern State University Soccer team ended the weekend with a split on the road. The Wolves fell to the Bulldogs, of University of Minnesota Duluth in Sunday soccer action with a score of 2-1. Northern falls to 8-7-1 overall and 5-7-1 in the NSIC as Duluth improves to 12-3 on the year and 11-2 in the conference.

With only ten minutes remaining in the first half of play the Bulldogs broke open the game with a goal from Dani Potter. NSU had compiled three shots in the first half of play, with keeper Brittany Tietz pulling in two saves. Northern entered the second half looking to return the favor however came up short as UMD connected for their second goal of the day via Potter.

Freshman Bobyye Pendleton kept the NSU hopes alive as she connected with Bulldog net with only five minutes remaining in regulation. Senior Khachirha Tugas recorded an assist on the play which resulted in Pendleton's third goal of the year. NSU totaled seven shots in the match, four of which were on goal. The Wolves were led by Pendelton who recorded three shots on the day.

With only one weekend remaining in regular season play, the Wolves sit at ninth in the NSIC with the hope of earning a bid to the conference tournament.

Northern will begin the last week of conference play on the road as they take on the Beavers of Minot State University, Friday Novemeber 1st beginning at 1 p.m. NSU will then return home in their regular season finale with University of Mary at 1 p.m. from Jerde Field, Sunday Novemeber 3rd.
