The Northern State football team will look for its third consecutive win Saturday afternoon as the Wolves travel to St. Cloud, Minn., to face No. 22 St. Cloud State. It will be Northern's second game this season against a ranked opponent.

Setting the Stage
Northern is coming off its first shutout since 2011 last week when it beat Bemidji State 27-0 in Aberdeen. The Huskies come into Saturday's contest having won two-straight games since their loss to 7th-ranked Minnesota Duluth.

About the Huskies
Quarterback Phillip Klaphake was named the Preseason NSIC Northern Offensive Player of the Year while defensive back Jack Moro was named the North's Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Klaphake is sixth in the league averaging nearly 280 yards of total offense per game. He has 10 touchdowns passing and just two interceptions this season and has also rushed for six scores.

Moro leads the NSIC and is fourth in the nations with five interceptions on the year. He also leads SCSU with 44 tackles. The Huskies are fifth in the league averaging 34 points per game and are second in scoring defense allowing just over 18 points per contest. St. Cloud State also boasts the number one pass defense in the NSIC as it gives up just 152 yards through the air in 2013.

Last Meeting
Northern State escaped last year's meeting with a 28-27 victory in Aberdeen. Jared Jacobson hit Mark Hanley for a 34-yard touchdown pass as time expired to set up the game-winning extra-point by Felipe Alfaia.

The Series
Northern is just 2-13 all-time against the Huskies. Prior to last season's victory, the Wolves hadn't beaten SCSU since 1947.

Forecast
The forecast for St. Cloud calls for mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low- to mid-40s. There is a 20 percent chance of rain Saturday as well.
