Coach Sather's Post-Game Comments
ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State sophomore
Michael Emge drilled 7-of-8 attempts from long range, while senior forward Colling Pryor poured in 25 points and eight rebounds to lead the Wolves to a big 95-75 win over Minnesota-Duluth Saturday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's basketball action.
The win was NSU's eighth in its last nine games, moving the Wolves to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in NSIC action. UMD slipped to 3-6 on the season and 1-4 in the loop.
The Wolves, who led by as many as ten late in the first half, watched UMD pull to within three on the first possession of the second half on a Brett Ervin bucket. The two teams then traded baskets before the Wolves put some distance between them. Pryor went on a 7-0 run of his own before
Seth Bachand,
Trent Zomer and
Dustin Tetzlaff joined the spree, pushing it to a 14-0 run to go up by 17 with 13:50 left in the game.
Ervin drained back-to-back threes for the Bulldogs to cut it to 11, but that was as close as the Bulldogs would get the rest of the way.
Emge finished with 21 points, just shy of his career-high. All seven of his makes were from long range. Pryor tallied a game-best 25 points and eight boards, going 7-for-7 from the free throw line in the effort. Zomer and Tetzlaff each finished with nine points on the night.
Ervin tallied 24 points to lead the Bulldogs, 18 of which came in the second half. Reece Zoelle and Jake Hottenstine added 19 and 12, respectively. That trio accounted for all but 20 of UMD's points on the night.
NSU will close out 2012 on Tuesday, hosting Mayville State in a non-conference match-up. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in Wachs Arena.
