BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Northern State wolves rode the efforts of sophomore outside hitter
Macey Finizio and senior middle blocker
Chelsea Chavez to a 3-1 win (25-19, 25-18, 22-25, 25-15) victory over Bemidji State Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference volleyball action.
The win gives NSU its first three-game win streak of the season. The Wolves also used the win to climb back above the .500 mark and now stand at 9-8 overall and 4-5 in NSIC play. BSU slipped to 3-18 on the season and 1-8 in the loop.
Finizio put down 16 kills to just three errors in a starting effort for the Wolves. Chavez, who had eight blocks a night prior, put down a sizzling effort on Saturday. The senior had 12 kills without committing an error in 18 swings, two service aces and five assisted blocks.
The weekend wins mark the start of a five-match road swing for the Wolves. NSU remains on the road next weekend, heading out to take on Winona State and Upper Iowa in another key weekend of NSIC play.
