ST. PAUL, Minn. –
Needing a win to stay in the top eight of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings, the Wolves dropped a 66-81 decision to the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Eagles Saturday night, slipping to the number nine spot in the standings after Southwest Minnesota State took over sole possession of eighth place with their win over the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

The Wolves slipped to 12-13 overall after their second loss of the weekend and now stand at 8-13 in NSIC play.  CSP, meanwhile, moved to 15-10 on the season and 12-9 in league action.  Both teams have one game left to play in the regular season.

CSP bolted out to a 21-5 lead in the first ten minutes of the game and never surrendered the lead after that.  The Wolves cut it to eight by the halftime break, then immediately cut it to five on the first possession of the second half on a Tom Parks trey.  After trading buckets with the Golden Bears, NSU sophomore Collin Pryor canned a jumper to make it a three-point affair at 34-31 with 17:25 to go.

The Golden Eagles would have none of it, however, reeling off an 11-0 run over the next two minutes and 40 seconds to regain control of the game.  CSP never let the lead dip to single digits for the remainder of the night.

Saturday's Golden Eagle win avenges an earlier loss to the Wolves on the opening weekend of NSIC play.

The Wolves were led by junior David Lane, who went 7-for-10 from the floor and finished with 18 points.  Redshirt freshman Tydan Storrusten drained four treys and chipped in 15 points off the bench.

CSP put four players in double figures, including a pair of double-double efforts from Brent Barz (13 points, 12 rebounds) and Isaiah Thomas (14 points, 10 rebounds off the bench).  Brothers Peter Olafeso and Kenny Olefso finished with 13 and 16 points, respectively, and six rebounds apiece.

The Wolves have one more chance to break into the top eight next weekend, but must go on the road to the University of Mary, currently ranked No. 24 in the nation, to do so.  Tip-off for Saturday's contest is set for 4 p.m. following the conclusion of the women's contest.
