BEMIDJI, Minn. –
Bemidji State gave the visiting Northern State Wolves a taste of their own medicine Friday evening, outscoring the Wolves 50-24 in the second half en-route to an 88-59 victory over NSU in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's basketball action.

The Wolves slipped to 6-3 overall and 2-3 on the young conference season, while Bemidji State improved to 8-3 overall and 3-2 in the loop.

The Wolves had outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 points per game in the second half, but found the sledding much tougher against the Beavers on Friday.  NSU kept within striking distance through a physical first half despite letting an early 8-3 lead slip away.  The Wolves didn't let Bemidji State get too far away, however, tying the game at 14-all on a Michael Emge trey with 12:23 left in the half.

The Beavers responded with a bucket from Mason Walters – two of his career-high 27 points – to regain the lead, and never relinquished it.  BSU led by as many as 11 with 7:23 left in the half, but couldn't shake the Wolves before the intermission.  Freshman point guard Mitch White scored four points on a lay-up and two free throws inside the final minute of the half to pull NSU back to within three.

Bemidji State, however, went on a 22-4 run in the first eight minutes of the second half to stretch their lead to 21, an advantage the Wolves were unable to erase.  Walters hit four treys and scored 17 of his 27 points in the second half to spark the Beaver effort.  He was joined in double figures by three other starters, including the NSIC's leading scorer James Ellisor, who finished with 17 points.

NSU junior Collin Pryor was the lone player in double figures for the Wolves, finishing with 17 points and three steals.  Senior Alex Thomas had eight points, as did White.

The Beavers also cleaned up on the glass, both offensively and defensively, normally a strong suit for the Wolves.  BSU grabbed 38 total rebounds, 16 of which were on the offensive end of the court.  NSU came up with 20 and four, respectively.
