MARSHALL, Minn. – The ninth-ranked Southwest Minnesota State overshadowed the Wolves in straight sets on Saturday afternoon, sending the Wolves home with a 25-14, 25-14, 25-16 decision in NSU's final road game of the season.
The loss drops the Wolves to 12-13 on the season and 7-11 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play, while the Mustangs moved to 21-6 overall and 15-3 in the loop.
SMSU featured a balanced offensive attack, putting three players in double figures in kills and hitting a sizzling .328 as a team on the night. The Mustangs led start-to-finish in all three sets and featured several mini runs throughout the match to help distance themselves from the Wolves.
Brooke Burmeister put down a match-high 15 kills, followed by Alyssa Taylor with 13 and Rachel Westby with 10.

Konefesi Vaisigano paced the Wolves with eight kills, while
Paula Martins,
Kaili Aiono and
Macey Finizio all finished with six kills apiece. Freshman
Morgan Richardson had 26 assists and a team-high four blocks.
The Wolves return home next weekend to close out the regular season against Concordia-St. Paul and St. Cloud State on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
