ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State big men Collin Pryor and Dustin Tetzlaff scored 14 points apiece and led a balanced offensive and defensive attack that propelled the Wolves to a season-opening 80-58 win over the visiting Jamestown College Jimmies Tuesday night in non-conference basketball action.
 
Pryor notched seven points in each half and finished with 14 points, four rebounds, five assists and zero turnovers and was one of the Wolves' few bright spots at the free throw line, going 6-for-8 from the stripe.
 
The Wolves sprinted out to the early lead, scoring six straight points in the paint, followed by an Alex Thomas trey and a Pryor free throw to make it 10-0 NSU before the Jimmies got on the board at the 16:27 mark.  A Davon Thomas trey later and the Jimmies had cut the gap to five at 10-5, but that would be as close as they would get.
 
NSU quickly stretched the lead back out to double digits and pulled steadily away to lead by 21 at the break on a Tydan Storrusten trey.
 
The Wolves led by as many as 26 in the second half, before ending the game with the 22-point win.
 
NSU took advantage of 19 Jamestown turnovers and turned them into 20 points, 10 of which came in transition.  The Wolves also dominated the inside game, outscoring the Jimmies 48-30 in the paint, including a 30-12 edge in the first half.
 
All 11 players to see the floor for the Wolves got into the scoring column, while ten of the 11 turned in at least one rebound.  Seven players ended with four or more rebounds, led by Tetzlaff and sophomore reserve Trent Zomer, playing his first official game in an NSU uniform.
 
NSU also committed just six fouls in the game, sending the Jimmies to the foul line for just two shots, both times for conventional three-point opportunities.  Jamestown converted on just one of those.
 
The Jimmies got 15 points from Thomas off the bench and another 12 from Burley.
 
The Wolves return to the floor on Friday for the second of their four-game non-conference home stand to open the season.  NSU will host Dakota State for the first time since 2002 in a 7 p.m. tip-off.
