DULUTH, Minn. –
In contrast to the first meeting of the season back in December, the Northern State University Wolves nailed five of six free throws in the final 1:21 of the night and put up 14 second-chance points off offensive rebounds and came away with a 72-61 road victory over the host University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs Friday evening in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's basketball action.

The win lifts NSU to 8-10 overall and 4-10 in conference play while the Bulldogs slipped to 7-11 on the season and 5-9 in league action.  UMD has now lost eight straight, their last victory coming in an 89-78 win over the Wolves on Dec. 18.  The Wolves misfired on 14 free throws in that foul-ridden contest, but did not allow the same fate to spoil Friday's showing.

NSU drained 20 of 25 attempts from the charity stripe in the re-match, including 12 of 14 by junior point guard David Lane.  Sophomore Collin Pryor was 3-for-4 from the stripe, but more importantly, 10 of 15 from the floor and finished with a team-best 23 points and 13 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season.

The Bulldogs started off the night holding a brief lead, which the Wolves quickly erased by the 14:43 mark.  Pryor downed a jumper in the paint to give the Wolves their first lead, followed by a Brett Newton three-pointer and the Wolves never looked back.  NSU held a 13-point lead by halftime and never let the Bulldogs closer than 10 the rest of the way.

In addition to Pryor's double-double effort, the Wolves got 19 points from Lane and another 11 from senior Tom Parks.

UMD had just one player in double figures, that coming on a 25-point performance by junior Ryan Rasmussen.

The Wolves are back on the court tomorrow, facing Bemidji State in another NSIC re-match.  Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. in Bemidji.
