ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Minnesota State University, Mankato Mavericks lived up to their tenth-ranked billing Friday evening, lighting up the scoreboard from every corner of the floor, shooting 54.4 percent overall and a blistering 63.2 percent from three-point range to down the Northern State University Wolves 91-73 Friday in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's basketball action.

The loss drops NSU to 6-9 on the season and 2-9 in league play while the Mavericks improved to 13-1 and 9-1 in conference action with their sixth straight win.

MSU bolted out of the gates to a 25-8 lead in the first eight and a half minutes of play and looked set to run off with the score until the Wolves put together a hot streak of their own.  A pair of Derek Hoellein treys sandwiched around a Tom Parks lay-up and three-pointer cut what was a 17-point Maverick lead into a six-point affair with 5:21 left to play in the first half.

The Mavericks quieted the crowd and quelled the NSU run with back-to-back buckets from Joe Drapcho and Marcus Hill that pushed it back to a double-digit game   MSU closed the half on a 10-3 run after the final media timeout of the half to take a 46-30 advantage into the break.

NSU would get no closer than 12 the rest of the way.

Parks scored 16 points to lead the way offensively for the Wolves.  Hoellein and sophomore Dustin Tetzlaff added 14 apiece, including four treys for Hoellein.  Sophomore forward Collin Pryor turned in a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double, his third straight such effort.  Seven of his 12 rebounds came on the offensive end of the floor.

Hill notched a game-best 22 points for the Mavericks to go along with his six assists.  Jefferson Mason added 17 points and eight boards, while Stephen Kirschbaum came off the bench for 12 points on 3-of-3 shooting from downtown.  The Mavericks were 12 of 19 from long range as a team.

The Wolves are back in action tomorrow night, hosting Southwest Minnesota State in another NSIC match-up.  The Mustangs suffered a 60-48 setback at the hands of U-Mary on Friday night.  Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. in Wachs Arena following the conclusion of the women's contest.
