BOX SCORE

Chandler, Ariz. – The Northern State University baseball team finally got a chance to open up their play at the RussMatt Greater Phoenix Invite Tuesday after having their first two days rained out, and fell to Peru State by a 10-5 margin Tuesday evening in Chandler, Ariz.

The loss drops the Wolves to 1-6 on the year.

The Wolves' bats were rusty from the trip and having to wait a few days to play, and could only get six hits during the game compared to 11 by the Bobcats.

Senior shortstop James Paul went 2-3 to lead the Wolves at the plate, and also stole a base and scored two runs.

Right fielder Michael Cross went 1-3 with an RBI double, and Ronnie Sellers went 1-4 with a two-RBI double to round out the Wolves better hitting lines.

Sophomore Michael Gardner went four innings in taking the loss on the mound.  He gave up

six runs (five earned) on eight hits with three strikeouts and four walks.  His record now stands at 1-2 on the year.

The Wolves hope the weather will cooperate enough for them to get in their double header with Malone (Ohio) today.  Action starts at noon.

Northern State University is an NCAA Division II affiliated school participating in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and is located in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
