MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - In their final regular season tune-up before heading south for the conference meet, the Northern State University swimming and diving squad recorded several strong performances on Day 1 of the University of Minnesota Challenge on Friday.

NSU's 200-yard free relay squad of Christine Retzlaff, Renee speidel, Brooke Larson and Sarah Sandvik clocked a time of 1:49.78 to set a new school record in that event.  Retzlaff, a freshman, also notched a second school record in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:14.73

The Wolves also produced strong performances in the longer 500-yard freestyle event as all five NSU swimmers (three team and two unattached participants) clocked either season or personal best times.  Molly Pengilly's unattached mark of 5:33.02 was faster than the current official school record.

The Wolves finish out the two-day event on Saturday before turning their attention to the conference championships on Feb. 18-21 in Omaha, Neb.
