ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University women's swimming team closed out their 2009-2010 home schedule with a 158-104 victory over the Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers in dual action Friday at the Aberdeen YMCA.

The win improves the Wolves' dual/double dual record to 6-1 overall on the season.

They got going early and often, earning a win in the 200-yard medley relay, earning 11 points towards their total.  The team of Brooke Larson, Christine Retzlaff, Sarah Iwerks, and Molly Pengilly finished with a time of 1:58.96.

The Wolves got six points in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a second-place finish from Laura McCowan with a time of 20:33.89 seconds and a fourth-place finish from Brittany Hiten with a time of 21:01.64.

The 200-yard free saw Brooke Larson get another first-place finish with a time of 2:03.76 that earned nine points for the Woles.  Alana King earned a fourth-place finish in the race with her time of 2:14.73.

Christine Retzlaff earned a first-place in the 100-yard back with a time of 1:04.51, earning nine points.

Allie Samuels earned a win in the 100-yard breast with a time of 1:17.28, and Heather Maier earned a fourth-place finish in the same race with a time of 1:26.44, earning a combined 11 points for Northern.

Sarah Iwerks earned a solo win in the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:29.28, teammates Jordan Robles finished third with a time of 2:41.91, and Laura McCowan finished in fifth with a time of 3:01.05.

Molly Pengilly finished the 50-yard free with a time of 25.99, placing her first and giving the Wolves nine points.  Sophomore Lindsey Varnell finished in third with a time of 26.78, and Teal Jacobson finished in fifth with a time of 28.10.

Pengilly and Varnell finished first and tied for third, respectively, in the 100-yard free as well, with Pengilly finishing at 56.72 and Varnell finishing at 1:01.45, tying with teammate Alana King.

Brooke Larson also nabbed a first-place finish in the 200-yard back, finishing in 2:21.00.  Jordan Robles finished fourth in the event with a time of 2:36.47.

Allie Samuels grabbed a second-place finish in the 200-yard breast with a time of 2:49.25 and Heather Maier finished in fourth in the event with a time of 3:07.90.

The Wolves got 13 points in the 500-yard free with Iwerks grabbing top honors (5:47.93), McCowan going third (6:05.15), and Brittany Hiten going fifth (6:11.60).

Christine Retzlaff earned another victory in the 100-yard fly with a time of 1:01.32.  Alana King grabbed third-place honors with her time of 1:12.73, and Teal Jacobson finished fifth with a time of 1:15.92.

Retzlaff grabbed another victory in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:17.71.  Allie Samuels finished third with a time of 2:31.21, and Jacobsen finished in fifth with a time of 2:48.22.

They closed out the night with first and third-place finishes in the 400-yard freestyle relay.  The team of Brooke Larson, Molly Pengilly, Sarah Iwerks, and Allie Samuels finished first with a time of 3:55.58, and the team of Alana King, Lindsey Varnell, Laura McCowan, and Jordan Robles finished third with a time of 4:14.88.

The Wolves are next in action on  January 1st when they take part in the MSU-Moorhead Dual Pentathlon.
