ST. CLOUD, Minn. –
The Northern State University Wolves scored in the first half of Saturday's game, but the second half belonged entirely to the host St. Cloud State University Huskies, who scored all five of their goals in the second stanza to blow past the Wolves for the 5-1 victory.

In the process, SCSU solidified their hold on their hold on third place in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings, improving to 8-4-4 overall and 7-2-2 in league play.  The Wolves slipped to 6-6-5 on the year and 4-3-3 in conference games.

NSU took the early lead on a Stephanie Connolly goal 38 minutes into the match.  Freshman forward Kaylee McDonald was credited with the assist on that goal, her fifth of the season.  The goal was the second of the year for the senior Connolly.

That, however, would be as much offense as the Wolves would generate, as the Huskies held NSU to just three shots in the second half, just one of which was on goal.

SCSU, meanwhile, put up 12 shots in the second period, all but four of which were on frame.  Five of those shots on goal went for scores, including the fifth and final goal with just a minute and 15 seconds left in the game.  Gabrielle Najera picked up the tying goal in the 61st minute before assisting on the go-ahead goal just four minutes later.

Margie Jancik added an insurance goal in the 72nd minute, while Krysten Flynn-Wallace added two more tallies in the final 15 minutes of play.

The Wolves will look to regroup tomorrow, taking on Concordia University-St. Paul in another key NSIC match-up.  The Golden Bears played the University of Mary to a 1-1 double-overtime tie on Saturday and stand in sixth place in the conference standings.
