Wolves Meet Vikings In Regional Semis

WINONA, Minn. - The Northern State Wolves will add another chapter to their postseason story as they take on Augustana College at 5:00 p.m. tonight at McCown Gymnasium in Winona, Minn.  The Wolves are ranked #5 in the nation and are the #2 seed in the 2008 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball North Central Region Tournament.  The Vikings are the #6 seed and reached the semis by knocking off #3 Minnesota State last night.

Northern State leads the overall series against Augustana College 35-21 and is on a current eight-game winning streak against the Vikings.  The Wolves met up with the AC earlier this year in a regular season game and took a 75-68 win.  NSU shot 56.3% from the field to Augie's 40.0% but was out-rebounded 29-34.  The Wolves had four players finish in double figures for scoring, with Kevin Ratzsch topping the squad with 18 points and eight rebounds.  Eric Krogman was the leading player for Augie with 14 points and seven boards.

Northern's semifinal game this evening will be broadcast on Midcontinent channel 12 in Aberdeen and channel 23 on the Midcontinent network.  #1 Winona State plays #5 Nebraska-Omaha at 7:30 p.m.
