Berg heaved a toss of 68 feet, ½ inch on his last throw of the day to win the weight throw at the SDSU Holiday Invite by more than a foot. His toss of 20.74 meters easily bested the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard and was just shy of the automatic standard. Berg was also 6th in the shot put with a throw of 16.25 meters (53 feet, 3 ¾ inches).
