Sasha Hovind made her way to the award stand from the NSIC Indoor Championships this past weekend. She placed third in the 3000-meter run with a 9:48.34 national provisional time. Hovind earned six team points finishing just six seconds behind the leader. Her time earned her a new school record and a 16th national ranking in the event. Sasha returned in day two to win the 5000-meter run in a national provisional qualifying time and school record of 16:46.74. Hovind tallied ten team points in her first NSIC Championship in the event. She was followed closely by Augustana's Leah Seivert and Duluth's Breanna Colbenson through the mile, but slowly pulled away over the next two miles to secure the win by ten seconds and come within five seconds of the meet record. Her time moved her up from eleventh to seventh in the national rankings. Hovind's 16 points made her the eighth highest point earner in the meet, which helped the women secure their highest team placing (6th) and point total since 2006.
