Zach Neer

Zach Neer enters his fourth full year as Director of Strength and Conditioning in 2025-26. The Northern State alumni joined the Wolves staff following a 4-year stint with Presentation College and the Avera St. Luke’s Human Performance Center.
 
Since August of 2018, Neer served as the Director of Strength and Conditioning for the Saints. He worked directly with all eight programs at PC, designing and implementing their strength and conditioning programs.
 
In addition, he served as the strength coach and internship coordinator at Avera St. Luke’s Human Performance Center where he developed community-based programming for Special Olympics South Dakota and the Aberdeen First Responders.
 
Neer opened his career as a graduate assistant coach with the Wolves, serving as the head strength and conditioning coach for the softball and wrestling programs, as well as the track and field sprinters and jumpers. In addition, he was the assistant coach for the football, volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball programs.
 
He holds certifications through NSCA as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and USA Weightlifting as a Level 1 Sports Performance Coach.
 
A former Northern State football student-athlete, Neer started 32 games for the Wolves from 2011-15. He tallied 105 total tackles and two interceptions in his career. Neer graduated with a bachelor’s in Human Performance and Fitness in 2015 and master’s in Sport Performance and Leadership in 2018 from Northern State.
 
Neer resides in Aberdeen with his wife, Northern State softball alumni Cassidy (Schaar) Neer and their daughter.
