Kory Theil enters his first year as a graduate assistant with the wrestling program at Northern State University for the 2009-2010 campaign. A native of Crystal Lake, Ill., Theil graduated from Cary-Grove High School in 2005, and earned his B.A. in Spanish from Lakeland College in 2009.
Theil earned four letters in wrestling during his time at Lakeland College, including being a Northern Wrestling Association champion at 141 pounds in 2007. He also added two Milwaukee School of Engineering Invite championships in 2007 and 2008, and was a three-time Great Lakes Regional place-winner.
Theil led his team in nearfall points during his senior season, and co-led all of Division III wrestlers at 141 pounds in pins with 15. Theil added to his athletic distinction by becoming Lakeland College's first wrestling Academic All-American in 2009.
Theil will be pursuing a master's degree in Health, Physical Education, and Coaching at Northern State.
