Joe Gomez enters his second season as an assistant coach for the Wolves, after a decorated Northern State career.
Gomez wrestled three years at Northern State from 2014-2017. He posted a career record of 108-39 being named to NSIC All-Conference in both his senior and junior season.Â
In 2016 he was the NCAA National Runner-up, aftering winning the NCAA Super Region Three Championship at 197-pounds,. He finished the season as a NCAA Â All-American and CoSIDA Academic All-American. He is one of few wrestlers in school history that have received multiple All-American honors finishing eighth in 2015, second in 2016, and seventh in 2017. He received the NSU Clark Swisher Award for outstanding senior athlete in 2017, and was named the NSIC Britton Kelly Award winner that same season.
Gomez is a member of the Northern State 30-win season and 100-win career clubs, after advancing to the NCAA National Championships in his final three seasons. He was named a NWCA Scholar Athlete from 2015-17.Â
