Prep: Shelby Novotny is a 5-foot-6, middle infielder out of Elk River High School. She is a 5-year starter and 3-year team captain for the Elks under head coach Danielle Bloom. Novotny hit .400 as a junior, with a .947 fielding percentage. She is a 2-time all-conference selection, and 2017 all-section team member. Novotny is also a member of the Minnesota A’s summer ball program, playing for former Northern State pitcher Lisa Koehler. She is also a featured player for the 2019 Minnesota high school softball guidebook. She is the daughter of Paul and Nicole Novotny.
