Steve Kehm

Steve Kehm has been the head coach of the NSU soccer team since its inaugural season in 1998, accumulating a winning record of 190-162-37 in 20 seasons with the Wolves.

NSU’s steady influx of new players do not arrive on campus just to fill uniforms, as the soccer program has produced 57 all-conference performers, as well as 16 ADIDAS All-Region players, two NSCAA All-Region players and three NSIC MVP's.

In 2017, Kehm saw three Wolves named to the NSIC All-Conference teams in Stephany Estrada (3rd), Shianne Roselli (HM), and Sydney Shintaffer (HM). Northern also recorded seven student-athletes on the NSIC All-Academic teams for recording a GPA of 3.20 or higher.

The Wolves made their return to the NSIC Championships in the fall of 2016 earning the No. 7 seed with a 9-9 record overall and 7-8 mark in league action. A total of four Wolves were named to the NSIC All-Conference teams in Anna Bondy, Darian Leschewski, Sydney Shintaffer, and Alison Byrd. The first team honors for Bondy and Leschewski were the most for the program since 2007. The pair also grabbed third team All-Region honors from the NSCAA. Anna Bondy also nabbed the programs third CoSIDA Academic All-America® award as she was named to the second team concluding her collegiate career with a 3.70 GPA.

Kira Wannebo became the first soccer All-American for the Northern program in 2007. The diversity of players on the team is amazing as well, as Kehm has brought in players from 12 different states and three different countries (Canada, Australia, and Sweden). Kehm also keeps South Dakota roots, recruiting many Aberdeen student-athletes.

In addition to their prowess on the field, the Wolves also excel in the classroom; with the 2015 season marking the 11th consecutive year that Wolves were honored with the ADIDAS/NSCAA team academic award. Northern State has produced four Academic All-Americans, with the team's GPA consistently ranking among the best in the nation.

In the summer of 2013, Kehm was named the chair of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's NCAA Division II weekly rankings. As the Division II national chair, Kehm will oversee eight regional rankings chairs, which are responsible for submitting a ranking of the top ten teams by record in their geographic region.

Kehm is the Director of Coaching for the Olympic Development Program (ODP) in the Dakota's. He is also a member of the college soccer academy camp staff and holds several national coaching licenses and endorsements.
