Dylan Fritz enters his seventh year as the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Northern State Athletics in the fall of 2021. Fritz is responsible for the overall direction and leadership of the strength and conditioning program for NSU’s 15 sports. Prior to earning the directorship, Fritz spent two seasons at Northern State as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach while working on his master's degree.
A certified strength and conditioning specialist and USA weightlifting sports performance coach, Fritz brings a wealth of experience from universities and organizations across the country. Dylan began his coaching career at fellow NSIC institution, Augustana College, as a strength and conditioning coach intern. With the Vikings, Fritz assisted in training sessions with football, soccer, volleyball, wrestling, baseball, and men’s and women’s basketball.
He then continued his career in the fall of 2011 at the University of Minnesota. As an intern coach for the Gophers, he implemented and coached Tri-Phasic training methods for men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s hockey, men’s and women’s swimming, baseball, and track and field. He also assisted with women’s rowing, wrestling, softball, volleyball, and men’s and women’s golf. Fritz coached the 2012 National Champion women’s hockey team, as well as conference champion men’s hockey team and women’s swim team.
Dylan spent three stints with South Dakota State University as a strength and conditioning intern from May 2011-May 2013. With the Jackrabbits, Fritz coached men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, softball, baseball, football, swimming, soccer, and track and field.
In February of 2012, Dylan was named the head strength and conditioning coach for the Tri-City Dust Devil’s, a minor league team in the Colorado Rockies organization. He worked specifically with 80 minor league baseball players in the areas of strength, speed, and power. He also gained experience working exclusively with athletic trainers in the Dust Devil organization to prevent and rehabilitate injuries.
As a graduate assistant for the Wolves, Dylan was the head strength and conditioning coach for baseball, wrestling, and throwers on the track team. Fritz also worked the football and men’s basketball teams. He worked to develop and implement year round training programs, as well as nutritional programs for the football and men’s basketball teams. In addition to his coaching experience, Dylan worked to establish and develop a strength and conditioning internship program. His team’s at Northern compiled an All-American thrower in Breann Jackson, an All-American wrestling in Joe Gomez, and baseball’s first ever conference tournament victories.
Fritz is a 2011 graduate of University of Sioux Falls with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. He was a member of the 2008 and 2009 NAIA National Championship football squads for the Cougars.
