Travis Owen

Travis graduated Magna Cum Laude from Saint Louis University prior to spending time in Colorado training athletes and other individuals.  While in Colorado, Travis had given health and nutrition seminars through Sunflower Market stores and had written for the Colorado Runners' Association.

After coming to Northern State for graduate school in 2009, Travis had interned under Teena Murray, head Olympic Sports Performance Coach at the University of Louisville.  There, Travis worked with several teams including the A-10 champion softball team, on speed/agility, nutrition performance, and strength and conditioning.  Travis received his CSCS en route to a strength and conditioning graduate assistantship at Northern State where he trained the softball team among others.  After completing his Master's degree, Travis stayed at Northern as an assistant coach and was part of NSU Softball's record-setting year where the team set several school records, led the conference in stolen bases, and made the conference tournament for the first time since the NSIC expansion.

Travis is slated to coach and play in May '13 in the Sioux Falls Fastpitch Softball League, a league featuring several former National Men's team players. Three current players in the SFFSL have been invited to represent Team USA in the ISF World Championships.

Travis strives for student-athlete improvement both on and off the field.  He is passionate about sport performance, was a 2-sport collegiate athlete, and competes in national and regional handball tournaments when possible.
