Janelle Haas begins her third year with the NSU Sanford Sports Medicine team in the fall of 2025 and second leading the department as the head athletic trainer. Haas came to Northern after five years as an assistant athletic trainer at Presentation College. She is the primary athletic trainer for the wrestling and softball programs at Northern State. Haas will also work with Wolves football.
Haas spent the 2023-24 academic year as the primary athletic trainer for the soccer and softball programs. In addition to leading the sports medicine department, she will serve as a member of the Northern State C.A.R.E.S. committee.
At Presentation College, Haas worked directly with the volleyball, men’s basketball, and baseball programs. In addition, she served as the clinical preceptor for athletic training students in the PC Athletic Training Program, assisted with practicum testing, and was the athletics representative on the Campus Assessment, Evaluation, and Response team.
Haas opened her career in athletic training as a student at the University of North Dakota. She completed rotations and provided coverage for eight NCAA Division I programs while earning her bachelor's degree. Haas then served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the Orthopedic Institute and South Dakota State in Brookings.
Haas is a BOC Certified athletic trainer and licensed through the State of South Dakota. She is also a member of the American Heart Association, National Athletic Trainers Association, Mid-America Athletic Trainers Association, and the South Dakota Athletic Trainers Association.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of North Dakota. Haas resides in Aberdeen with her husband, Matthew.
