Lynne Dingman

Lynne Dingman begins her seventh season as the head coach for the Wolves track and field programs and the director of track and field/cross country in the fall of 2025. Dingman returned to her alma mater following an assistant coaching stint with NSU from 2012-18.

The 2024-25 season brought successes for both the men's and women's cross country and track and field programs. On the course, the cross country squads put together ninth (men) and 12th (women) place finishes from the NSIC Championships with a new school record set by Nathan Alto. On the track, Northern tallied 20 NSIC All-Conference performances, including five NSIC Champions, and 27 school records were broken (or re-broken) between both the indoor and outdoor seasons. The Wolves placed fifth on both the men's and women's side at the NSIC Indoor Championships and added third (men) and sixth (women) place finishes from the NSIC Outdoor Championships. The season was capped off by a pair of All-American performances from Jayden Munroe, fourth in the long jump, and Sam Tremelling, eighth in the pole vault, at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Pueblo, Colorado. 

In the fall of 2023, the Wolves cross country programs placed sixth (men) and eighth (women) at the NSIC Championships. Megan Pickering and Josh Martin led the way from the NSIC Championships with a pair of all-conference performances. Between the 2023-24 indoor and outdoor seasons, the Wolves tallied four conference champions (men's heptathlon, men's pole vault, men's javelin, and women's hammer throw), 11 all-conference performances, and ten school records. In addition Northern placed third (men) and sixth (women) at the NSIC Indoor Championships and third (men) and seventh (women) at the NSIC Outdoor Championships. The men's placings were the highest for the program in over 15 years. 

Northern State took seventh (women) and eighth (men) from the NSIC Indoor Championships and eighth (men and women) from the NSIC Outdoor Championships in 2022-23. In total, NSU recorded  ten NSIC All-Conference performances and 11 school records between the indoor and outdoor seasons. Renea Taylor qualified for both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships earning All-American accolades in the indoor 60m and outdoor 400m hurdles.

The Wolves saw numerous school records broken in both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2021-22. Northern took sixth (men) and eighth (women) from the NSIC Indoor Championships and fourth (men) and 11th (women) from the NSIC Outdoor Championships. In addition, NSU tallied six indoor all-conference honors, eight outdoor all-conference honors, two indoor conference champions, and three outdoor conference champions. Tanner Berg (weight throw), Shanice Burrell (60m hurdles), and Glen Quayle (pole vault) qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships, with Berg and Quayle notching All-American awards for the second and 12th place finishes. Berg went on to become the program's first NCAA men's National Champion in the hammer throw at the 2022 Outdoor Championships. 

In 2021, the Wolves took fourth (men) and fifth (women) from the NSIC Indoor Championships, with individual conference championships from Tanner Berg (weight throw & shot put), Terry Towah (200m), and Jordyn Huneke (pole vault). In addition, Tanner Berg, Tava Berg, and Jordyn Huneke all qualified for the NCAA National Championships, withall three earning All-American accolades. Northern moved on to the outdoor season, where Dakota Hutzler opened the NSIC Championships for the Wolves with the first Conference Championship of her career in the heptathlon. Kealy Hill added an individual Championship in the pole vault, defending her title from 2019. In all, Northern finished the competition with a combined 13 all-conference performances and a fifth place finish by both the Wolves men and women.

The Wolves took fourth (men) and ninth (women) from the NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championships in 2020, producing nine all-conference performances and two NSIC Championships in the weight throw (Tanner Berg) and pole vault (Kealy Hill). The fourth place finish by the men was the highest for the program since the 2009-10 season. In addition, three Wolves qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in the weight throw (Berg), pole vault (Hill), and heptathlon (Bryce Malsam), however were unable to compete due to the NCAA's announcement to cancel all championship competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic
 
She began her coaching career as an assistant coach for the Wolves from 2001-03. In addition to her track and field duties, Dingman was the Intramural Director for the university.
 
From 2012-18, Dingman led the sprints, jumps, hurdles, and multi events producing three All-American performances from Hanneke Oosterwegel and Deshonn Brown. Oosterwegel nearly won an NCAA National Championship in the 400m hurdles in 2017. Her athletes broken over 35 school records, won seven NSIC Conference events, broke two NSIC conference meet records, and hit numerous NCAA national qualifying marks. Dingman also served as the recruiting coordinator for both the men’s and women’s programs.
 
She spent one season at Central Michigan University in 2003-04 working with the sprints, jumps, hurdles, and multi events. She helped lead the Chippewas to a pair of Mid-American Conference team championships in 2004. During her time at CMU, she coached three Indoor NCAA Division I provisional qualifiers, five athletes to the outdoor NCAA Preliminary Championships, four MAC Champions, six All-MAC selections, and two school record holders.
 
She returned to Aberdeen in 2004 as the head cross country coach for three seasons at Presentation College, before spending eight years with the Aberdeen Federal Credit Union.
 
A 2010 inductee into the Northern State Hall of Fame, Dingman earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing in 2000 and Master of Education and Learning in Health, Physical Education and Coaching in 2005 from NSU. She competed collegiately for the Wolves as an 11-time NSIC All-Conference performer and 8-time NSIC Conference Champion in the 55m dash, 55m hurdles, 200m dash (indoor), 100m dash, 200m dash (outdoor), 4 x100 relay, 4x400m relay, and heptathlon. In addition, Dingman remains the Northern State school record holder in the heptathlon and sprint medley relay. She also broke two NSIC meet records during her time with the Wolves and was the NSIC Track & Field MVP twice.
 
Dingman has been highly involved with USATF over the years. She has served as the USATF Dakotas Youth Chair and has been the Dakotas Meet Director for both track and field and cross-country Championship events. She is a USTAF Level 1 Certified Coach and a National Level Official.
 
She is actively involved in the Aberdeen Community having served as a past Junior Achievement Board member and a current Junior Achievement classroom teacher. She is also a volunteer Hub City Soccer coach and past Aberdeen Area Running Club Youth track and field coach. Lynne resides in Aberdeen with her husband Jason and their three boys, Carter, Jett, and EJ.
