Career and Season Bests
Pre-NSU: Chase Smith is a middle distance and cross country runner out of Mount Ayr Community High School and Iowa Central Community College. As a prep, Smith with a 4-year letter winner, recording personal bests of 10:33.00 (3200m), 4:46.00 (1600m), 2:03.00 (800m), and 17:27.00 (5K). He was a 2018 cross country state qualifier and 2-time track and field state qualifier in the 4x800m relay. Running at Iowa Central, Smith tallied an 8K personal best of 27:13.00. The cross country team at ICCC placed third at the national meet in 2019 and followed that up with a NJCAA National Championship in 2020. In addition, the track and field squad won the indoor National Championship in 2020 and finished as the runner-up in 2021. He is the son of Chadd and April Smith.
