Prep: Maxwell Nielson is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound guard out of Sioux Valley High School. He was a 5-year starter and 2-year team captain for the Cossack under the direction of head coach Bill Vincent. Over his career, Nielson shot 50.0% from the floor, 42.0% from the 3-point line, and 83.0% from the foul line. He averaged over 16.0 points per game in his final two seasons, notching 249 rebounds, 505 assists, and 170 stelas in his career. Nielson is a 5-time all-conference honoree, 2-time all-state selection, and a South Dakota Mr. Basketball Finalist. In addition, he was named the Brookings Register Player of the Year and landed on the Argus Leader Second Five and KELO/Sanford Pentagon Top-5 teams. He is the son of Peter and Amy Nielson.
