Brad Christenson

Brad “BC” Christenson begins his 28th year as an assistant coach for the Northern State men’s basketball team in 2019-20. 

During his previous 27 years he has worked with head coaches Bob Olson, Don Meyer and current Wolves head coach Paul Sather.  With BC’s help NSU has seen a tremendous amount of success including last season's second consecutive NSIC regular season and conference tournament championships.  BC was also a part of Northern's historic run during the 2018-19 season where the Wolves won a school record 36 games and its national runner-up finish is the highest for any Northern team since its inception into the NCAA Division II level. 

In total, BC has been a part of ten conference championships, four conference tournament championships, eleven NCAA Regional Tournaments, four NCAA Regional Finals, two NCAA Elite Eights and three NAIA National Tournaments where the Wolves made the Final Four all three years finishing as the National Runners-up twice.

Christenson earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration (1989) and Master’s degree in professional accountancy (1990) from the University of South Dakota.  He received his teacher certification from NSU in 1993.

In addition to his duties at Northern, Christenson has also been a math teacher at Aberdeen Central for the past 26 years.  He and his wife Ashley reside in Aberdeen with their daughters Nora and Savi.
