Prep: A three-sport athlete for the Mustangs of Tri-Valley High School, Johnson is a 2-time All-State and All-Big Sioux Conference pick under head coach Brad McDonald. Johnson was also named as the 2011 BSC Co-MVP after leading the Mustangs to a 12-0 record and a state title. That marked the Mustangs' third trip in four years to the state championship game, where they also earned the state crown in 2008. In Johnson's four seasons, the Mustangs were a combined 43-5 on the field, including back-to-back 11-1 seasons in 2008 and 2009. Johnson also participates in wrestling and track and field for the Mustangs, earning a trip to the state tournament in 2010, where he finished third. Off the field, Johnson is a member of the TVHS student council and mentoring program.
