Pre-NSU: Sergio lettered three times in football and was also named team captain at Omaha South High School in Nebraska.  He also lettered twice in track.  Sergio also received awards in the honor roll, American Legion Cornhusker Boy's State, National Honors Society and Hispanic Leadership.
