Before NorthernHarding was a 2-time All-Suburban East Conference selection for the Mounds View High School Mustangs, having helped lead his team to the 2010 and 2012 SEC championships. He recorded 32 tackles and an interception as a sophomore in 2010, a season in which the Mustangs went 11-2 overall and advanced to the semifinals of the state playoffs. He racked up 61 tackles (five TFL), three sacks and an interception in 2011, earning all-conference honorable mention accolades, but saved his best season for last, tallying 90 tackles (five TFL), one sack, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries and two rushing touchdowns during an 8-2 season and another SEC championship. Harding earned his second all-conference honor after that standout senior campaign under head coach Jim Galvin.
