Bailey Berg enters his second season with the Northern State football program in the fall of 2023. Berg serves as the graduate assistant for the defensive backs.
In 2022, the Wolves went 6-5 overall and 3-3 in the North Division. Northern tallied their first NFCA Top-25 victory in the Schmidt-era with a 23-22 win over No. 24 Minnesota State. It was the first win over the Mavericks in over 50 years. The Wolves defense ranked eight in redzone defense and tenth in rushing defense nationally in 2022.
Berg opened his coaching career in a variety of roles at Minnesota State, serving as a student assistant, defensive line assistant, cornerbacks coach, and the director of football operations from 2016-2022. In his stint with the Mavericks, MSU won three conference championships, a super region champion, and finished as the 2019 NCAA National Finalist. The 2019 Mavericks defense held national rankings of seventh in total defense, third in rushing defense, sixth in scoring defense, and fourth in opponent fourth down conversions.
