Prep: Carter Luikens is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete out of Gettysburg High School, playing for Potter County. He was a 3-year starter and team captain for the Battlers under the direction of head coach Kyle Kusser. Playing both sides of the ball, Luikens racked up career totals of 1,205 yards rushing with 16 touchdowns, 693 yards receiving with eight touchdowns, 698 kick return yards with three touchdowns, and 168 tackles and seven interceptions. Potter County finished as the South Dakota State Runner-up his sophomore season. Luikens is a 2-time all-conference selection and 2023 all-state honoree. He is the son of Mandy Spilde.
