Before NSU: Byrd, who attended Roncalli but played for coach Merle Aske at Aberdeen Central, was a First Team All-State selection this past season and was named to the State All-Tournament Team her junior and senior season. Byrd was also named the team's MVP after winning two state titles and was selected to the Elite 11 following her senior year. Byrd was also Academic All-State this fall and is a member of the National Honor Society and a Regent Scholar. Byrd played her club ball with the Hub City Soccer Club of Aberdeen under coach Kehm
