Guthmiller was the Brandon Valley HS team Defensive Player of the Year as a junior and an All-ESD Conference and All-State selection as a senior under head coach Chad Garrow. He tallied 51 tackles, including 12.5 for a loss and five sacks during that senior campaign. He also had two fumble recoveries while helping lead the Lynx to an 11-1 record and a runner-up finish in the 2012 state playoffs. Guthmiller recorded 64 tackles, four sacks and an interception during his junior season. His BVHS teams went a combined 24-9 from 2010-12, claiming three straight ESD championships. Guthmiller also helped the Lynx to an ESD conference title and state runner-up finish in track and field last spring. Guthmiller is a member of the National Honor Society and the BVHS Homecoming Court and is active in FCA.
