Mike Dahl is entering his second season as the wolves’ graduate assistant. He is on his way to achieving his master’s degree in Sports Performance and Leadership.
Prior to Northern, he was an assistant varsity and head JV baseball coach for Schreiner University for one year. Schreiner University is located in Kerrville, TX and is a division 3 school.
He worked specifically with the hitters and outfielders.
In 2010 and 2011, Mike had an internship with the Pittsburgh Pirates, working in their video analysis department. He used computer software called BATS, which allows each pitch type, location, and velocity to be recorded and stored within the system. Video data was also recorded at the same time as the pitch, this allowed pitchers, batters, and coaches to review the game film and make adjustments the next game. He worked one season in Charleston, WV with the West Virginia Power (class A affiliate). The second season took him down to Bradenton, FL working with the Bradenton Marauders (class advanced A) and the Gulf Coast League (rookie ball teams).
In the spring of 2010, Mike graduated from the University of Charleston, WV with a degree in Sports Administration and a minor in Business. He played all four years as an outfielder. He batted .387 his senior year and graduated with a career batting average of .333
Mike is originally from Shakopee, MN. He was a varsity letter winner three years in football and basketball, and lettered four years in baseball. His senior year he was a captain for his football and baseball teams. His junior year his high school won the state basketball championship and he was the starting point guard. He still currently owns seven offensive career records for baseball: At-bats, hits, doubles, triples, runs scored, RBIs, and total bases.
