Matt Sisk

Matt Sisk will be serving his seventh year as an assistant coach for the Wolves in 2014. He earned this title after spending two years as a graduate assistant coach at NSU in 2008 and '09.

Sisk has a long history in the sport of baseball. In high school, Sisk played American Legion baseball for Sioux Falls West for three seasons from 1998-2000. He received the "Most Improved" Award as a sophomore outfielder, and the "Outstanding Defense" Award as a senior catcher. During the 2000 South Dakota State Tournament, Sisk batted .526 (10-19) and earned the tournament's "Big Stick" Award.

After high school, he went on to start at catcher for Bethany Lutheran College (NJCAA Div. II, Mankato, Minn.) in 2002. Sisk batted .316 (.438 OB%) on the season and received the Gold Glove Award for a team that won the NJCAA Region XIII Championship.

Sisk later transferred
to Northern State and played baseball in 2006 as an outfielder, pitcher, and catcher. As a student at Northern State, Sisk received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education in May of 2007. He then earned a Master of Science Degree in Health, Physical Education, and Coaching at Northern State University in May of 2009.

In his young coaching career, Sisk got his start in Sioux Falls, South Dakota as an assistant baseball coach for O'Gorman High School in the spring of 2007. He was an assistant coach for two summer seasons until he landed his first head coach job with Sioux Falls South in 2009 (28-22 record).

From 2010-11, Sisk served as head coach for 15/16 Sioux Falls East. The East teams compiled an 86-34 overall record and won the 2010 VFW State Championship. Over the course of three seasons, Sisk's teams posted a record of 114-56 (.671).

Sisk has been coaching for the Pierre (SD) Post 8 baseball program since the summer of 2012. He was named head coach in 2013, and helped Pierre earn three postseason victories on the way to a 6th place finish in the state tournament. Sisk will return to Pierre for the summer of 2014.
