Jason Hampton

Hampton enters his second year with the Northern State baseball program, as a graduate assistant. Jason works primarily as the team’s hitting instructor, while working toward his master’s degree in Sports Performance and Leadership.
 
In his first season with the Wolves, Hampton led the offense to multiple school records and national rankings. The NSU baseball squad reached the conference tournament for the second straight season and defeated No. 6 Minnesota State. The NSU offense landed in the top five in the NSIC in batting average (.329), slugging percentage (.497), on base percentage (.406), runs scored (387), hits (566), runs batted in (347), total bases (854), total plate appearances (2,007), and at-bats (1,719). Northern also finished top ten in triples (10) and homeruns (43).
 
Most notably was the conference and national leading mark of 139 doubles on the year. On the national stage, the Wolves ranked third in doubles per game, 22nd in batting average, 27th in slugging percentage, and 29th in hits. Multiple Wolves recorded single season school records including: Lucas Lorenz with 71 hits, Jack Schmidt with 20 doubles, Tyler Gripentrog with 55 runs score, Eric O’Bryan with 205 at-bats, and Tyler Gripentrog with 34 walks.
 
Prior to Northern, Hampton served as the director of baseball operations at Division 1 Sacramento State University. He aided the Hornets to a WAC championship and in reaching their first NCAA regional in program history.  Hampton also served as assistant coach for the Wisconsin Woodchucks a member of the Northwoods League, a summer collegiate league in 2014.
 
In the winter of 2013 Hampton graduated from Sacramento State with a degree in organizational communications. Hampton lettered four years for the Hornets playing first base and DH primarily, but also saw time on the mound. He finished his career with a .286 batting average, while making 12 appearances on the mound including 2 starts and striking out 13. The Rocklin, California native was a 47th round draft pick for the Cincinnati Reds coming out of high school in 2009.
